The pier was opened in August 1877, it is a grade  2 listed pier .It is the longest pier in Wales and the 5th longest in England and Wales .  A recent attraction to the pier is the Waverley Paddle Steamer which runs from Liverpool to Llandudno  and then from Llandudno to Anglesey.
